Independent Living
Independent living is exactly what it says. Older adults are free
to live in cottages or apartments with all the freedom one could
imagine. Residents come and go as they please, always knowing that
their apartment or cottage is safe. Maintenance is not a worry because
each campus is staffed with knowledgeable, hard-working personnel
to help residents daily. Independent living apartments are available
at 10 campuses (Hernando, Clarksdale, Tupelo, West Point, Columbus,
Raymond, Meridian, Hattiesburg, Leakesville and Biloxi) and independent
living cottages are available at 4 campuses (Clarksdale, Meridian,
Raymond and Tupelo).
Personal Care
Personal care,
often referred to as assisted living, is offered at 7 of Senior
Services' campuses (Hernando, Clarksdale, Tupelo,
Columbus, Raymond, Meridian and Biloxi). Personal care bridges the
gap between independent living and nursing home care for those who
do not need skilled nursing care. Personal care does offer daily
assistance such as meal preparation, bathing, dressing, housekeeping,
medication monitoring and laundry service.
Skilled Nursing Care
Senior
Services owns 3 nursing homes (Tupelo, Columbus
and West Point).
Skilled nursing care provides 24-hour nursing
care, authorized by the resident's physician
and a full array of personal, dining, therapeutic,
social, spiritual and recreational services.
Alzheimer's
Care
In
addition to 24 hour skilled nursing care,
Cedars Healthcare Center (Tupelo) provides
a special wing for those suffering from
the early to middle stages of Alzheimer's
Disease.
Outreach Programs
Meals-On-Wheels and Transportation Services are the two Outreach
Programs provided by Senior Services. Traceway Retirement Community
in Tupelo serves hot meals to over 80 people 5 days a week. Turner-Duvall
Retirement Community in Leakesville offers Transportation Services
to approximately 200 Greene County residents each month.
